Weed vs Government

     Puff, Puff, Pass is the topic this time folks so for all you smokers this one is for you. Now I myself am not a part of the smoking community, and to be honest I cant really stand it, but if you look at this in a logical sense why is the government still continuing this absurdity of declaring a plant illegal??? Oh wait, I think I said that wrong. What I should have said was, "Why do they continue to make it illegal unless you get it from them" thats more accurate.
I mean, look at this right; In the states you can get weed bottled up for you through a prescription....where do you get the prescription from??? A doctor. Who does the doctor work for??? The Government. See where this is going??? In most cases the Government has little if any weed fields of their own so what do they do then??? They do the usual rob the little man aka the weed pushers. They confiscate their weed, take it to their facilities, package it up and then sell it BACK to you for their own benefit. If this is the case then what is so special about Weed in the first place????

Benefits of Marijuana

     Now seeing that the government enables you to have these prescribed doses of marijuana there must be something beneficial about it right??? Well yes there is. One of the main things i've seen  while browsing around and doing a bit of research is that it can or has cured Cancer (See following video). Apparently the US of A has know this for years now how long??? Since 1974. Shocker isn't it??? Weed also has a calming effect on its users as well, that's two positive facts already. The term medical marijuana took on dramatic new meaning in February 2000 when researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable brain cancer tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis.
     The Madrid study marks only the second time that THC has been administered to tumor-bearing animals; the first was a Virginia investigation 26 years ago. In both studies, the THC shrank or destroyed tumors in a majority of the test subjects. You can read up more on this and what took place here (Marijuana Cures Cancer).


Risks of Marijuana

     Now those are not the only benefits but you are welcome to go and research in detail at your leisure. Moving on even though cannabis may seem like the ideal drug or the miracle plant, it does has its risk as with every other drug known to man. One of the main ones is that long term use of it may lead to Brain Damage. Smoking marijuana regularly (a joint a day) can damage the cells in the bronchial passages which protect the body against inhaled microorganisms and decrease the ability of the immune cells in the lungs to fight off fungi, bacteria, and tumor cells. For patients with already weakened immune systems, this means an increase in the possibility of dangerous pulmonary infections, including pneumonia, which often proves fatal in AIDS patients

 Adolescents and young adults who are heavy users of marijuana are more likely than non-users to have disrupted brain development, according to a new study. Pediatric researchers found abnormalities in areas of the brain that interconnect brain regions involved in memory, attention, decision-making, language and executive functioning skills. (Taken from - Science Daily: Heavy Marijuana Use) 




Final Words and Thoughts

Now as I wrap this up heres a fin fact for you. Did you know, no one has died from smoking marijuana??? But look on how many have died from drinking? Yet alchohol is legal (which I dont mind really since I do enjoy my alchohol) and Marijuana which doesnt kill anyone is a punishable offense.... Smart choice by the government there huh???
     On the topic of government, the one we have here in jamaica has no sense whatsoever. I mean look at it in detail for a second. The US basically hands out weed to you on a platter as long as you have a prescription right, Jamaicans regardless of the law are always in abundance of this wonder drug. Why doesnt our government make it legal and then have those farmers sell to the US??? Boom! instant job creation right there, we start to gain some more foreign currency and it might even impact us greatly enough to see our currency gain some worth on the market. Stop taking the weed just legalize it. Lots of problems could possibly be solved that way. On the flipside however if things go wrong legalizing it could pose a different threat to the farmers themselves as it would be much easier to access and therefore profit would drop. So its all about Cause & Effect.

      Ok so it doesnt cause permanent brain damamge but it does cause a minimal amount nonetheless. But I will say I stand corrected lady Amber, thanks for that :)
